The main emphasis is on what a professional welding inspector should know in actual practice under various circumstances.

Course participants will undergo a rigorous course which will help them become well-versed in the various codes/standards in use, the fundamentals of welding inspection, and actual hands-on examinations of weld replicas with various inspection tools. The course, undoubtedly, enhances the understanding and knowledge of the trainees in the field of welding inspection.

TOPICS COVERED

  • The Welding Inspector
    • Documents governing welding inspection and control of materials
    • Weld joint geometry and welding terminology
  • Welding and non-destructive testing symbols
    • Code Review
    • Welding procedure and Welder Qualification
  • Welding, Brazing and Cutting Processes

ASNT PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing) Level II Training Program (Part Time)

ASNT PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing) Level II course is from 18 Apr 2012 to 26 Apr 2012. This course involves examination of test objects under visible or fluorescent dye solution coating. Excess dye on the object is then removed from the surface, and a developer is applied. The developer acts as blotter by drawing trapped penetrant out of imperfections open to the surface. The vivid color contrasts between the penetrant and developer, makes the "bleedout" easy to see to the naked eye. When fluorescent dyes are involved, ultraviolet light is used to make the bleedout fluoresce brighter, thereby allowing imperfections to readily stand-out.

TOPICS COVERED

  • Fundamentals
    • Interaction of penetrants and discontinuity openings
    • Fluorescence and contrast
  • Liquid Penetrant testing
    • Penetrant Processes
    • Test Equipment and Systems Factors
    • Test Result Interpretation: Discontinuity indications
  • Applications
    • Castings
    • Welds
    • Wrought Metals
    • Machined Parts
    • Leaks
    • Field Inspections
