September schedule
ASNT PT (Liquid Penetrant Testing) Level II Training Program
Part Time (Monday to Friday, 6.30pm – 9.30pm): 29 August 2012 to 07 September 2012
In the Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) Test, objects are coated with visible or fluorescent dye solution. Afterwards, the excess dye is removed from the surface, and a developer is applied. The developer acts as blotter, drawing trapped penetrant out of imperfections to open to the surface. With visible dyes, vivid color contrasts between the penetrant and developer make the "bleed-out" easy to see. Ultraviolet light, together with fluorescent dyes, is used to make the bleed-out fluoresce appear brightly, thus allowing imperfections to be readily seen.
PAUT (Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing) Training Program
Part time (Monday to Friday, 6.30pm – 9.30pm): 12 September 2012 – 18 October 2012
An advanced method of ultrasonic testing that
is widely used in several industrial sectors, such as power
generation and construction. The method is efficient to detect
component failures, i.e. cracks or flaws and thereby determining
component quality. Wall thickness and corrosion testing can also
be measured using phased array technique. The course content is
ranging from general introduction of phased array system, phased
array probes, basic of phased array imaging to specific
instrumentation of phased array, phased array test set up and
display formats, practical, interpretation, examination.
ET Level (Eddy Current Testing) Level II Training Program
Part time (Monday to Friday, 6.30pm – 9.30pm): 19 September 2012 – 24 October 2012
Eddy current testing NDT method is a non-destructive testing method that is based on the principles of electromagnetic induction. Electromagnetic simply means the dual combination use of electricity and magnetism. Flow of electricity, under certain circumstances, can cause magnetism. Magnetism, under certain circumstances, causes the flow of electricity. When an alternating current (AC) is passed through coil, a changing magnetic field is generated. As the coil is placed near a conductive test object, the magnetic field induces eddy current.
VT Level (Visual Testing of Welds) Level II Training Program
Part time (Monday to Friday, 6.30pm – 9.30pm): 12 September 2012 – 26 September 2012
Visual inspection NDT method involves using an inspector's eyes to look for defects. The inspector may also use special tools such as magnifying glasses, mirrors, or bore-scopes to gain access to inspect the subject area more closely. Visual examiners follow procedures that range from simple to very complex level.
October schedule
AWS-CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) Training Program
Part time (Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.30pm): 4 October 2012 to 5 November 2012
Full time (Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.30pm): 22 October 2012 to 31 October 2012
The course will serve as a sound refresher in welding inspection, particularly for practicing welding inspectors and anyone want to be an AWS-certified welding inspector. The main emphasis is on what a professional welding inspector should know in actual practice. Course participants will undergo a rigorous course to get them well versed with the codes/standards in use, the fundamentals of welding inspectors, and actual hands-on examinations of weld replicas with various inspection tools.
AWS- SCWI (Senior Certified Welding Inspector) Training Program
Part time (Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.30pm): 15 October 2012 to 2 November 2012
This course is suitable for those who has been a Certified Welding Inspector for a minimum 6 years and whose career has evolved into supervisory or managerial responsibilities in the field of quality control/assurance. Senior Certified Welding Inspector is the highest level of certification and is highly demanded by companies that are in search for all-skilled welding managers who can do the job and supervise others.
The successful applicants will have wider opportunity to solve problems with a scope and level of difficulty beyond those experienced as CWI.
API 570 (American Petroleum Institute – Piping Inspector) Training Program
Part time (Monday to Friday, 6.30pm – 9.30pm): 8 October 2012 – 5 November 2012
The API 570 Piping Inspector training course is structured in such way to give a detailed understanding of the required engineering knowledge for API 570 In-service Piping Inspection and provide required preparation in the form of lectures by experts and model examination for attaining the API 570 In-service Piping Inspection Certification.
ASNT UT (Ultrasonic Testing) Level II Training Program
Part Time (Monday to Friday, 6.30pm – 9.30pm): 10 October 2012 to 18 November 2012
Ultrasonic NDT method use transmission of high-frequency sound waves into a material to detect imperfections or to locate changes in material properties. The most commonly used ultrasonic testing technique is pulse echo, wherein sound is introduced into a test object and reflections (echoes) are returned to a receiver from internal imperfections or from the part's geometrical surfaces.
