One of our recent projects involved performing a Rope Access NDT of cranes in an
offshore project. A total of four cranes were inspected and tested based on two
types testing Methods. Both Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UTG) test and Eddy current
Testing (ECT) were conducted on the booms and lattice of the cranes. Ultrasonic
Thickness Gauging monitors metal thickness or weld quality in industrial settings
by means of portable UTG probe devices wherein measurement can be made steel plating
in sides, tanks, decks and the superstructure.
The project was successfully completed within a week’s span.
